On September 4, 2011 Bastrop County had several
wildfires break-out, and continue for weeks.
These fires are known as the Bastrop County Complex
Wildfires. Primary areas impacted were properties
East of Bastrop on, and off, Highways 71 and 21, and
included the 'Union Chapel' fire in Cedar Creek.
More than 34,000 total acres burned and over 1700
Homes were completely destroyed. Over 1/3 of these
property owners/renters were uninsured or
underinsured.
Please join me in rebuilding Bastrop County residents'
lives by volunteering and/or donating to the Bastrop
County Long Term Recovery Team at www.
BCLTRT.org.
Though I have recently resigned a 9 month stint on
the BCLTRT Board of Directors as the Construction
Management Chairman, I am deeply committed to the
work of this organization and still serve on the
Advisory Team.
